Valuations

Valuations can take up to an hour. Should any member want a valuation, by one of our Valuation Officers, at any Rally, you MUST book an appointment in advance.

Please send me an e-mail with the date of the rally and your membership number and I will contact an Officer, who may be available on the day, to try to make an appointment.

Viruses & Spam

Due to being bombarded with malicious viruses causing untold damage to the computer I am very wary of opening e-mails with attachments,
so I now use: Mailwasher – a Spam Killing programme.

If your e-mail looks dubious (no-subject matter or certain spam looking words) it will be deleted before it gets to me, so please take care
and if you are sending attachments, such as photographs,
please pre-warn me in a separate e-mail because
any suspect matter gets "dumped" before opening.

I am sent 80-100 Spam a day so please give your e-mail a Subject. If my computer thinks your e-mail is Spam, it will not get to me.

Also please make sure photographs are JPEGs and not BMPs - as someone sent the same photograph 3 times as a BMP which took nearly an hour to download - (before I went Broadband)

Developments in technology since the introduction of the P5

One of the most obvious developments and advances is in computer technology and associated software packages. Word processing packages automatically correct our spelling mistakes and even highlight grammatical errors.

Now imagine if that didn't happen and someone crossed the "C" and the "K" ceys on yours komputer. Kertainly this kould kause konsiderable konfusion and kountless mistaces kould mace things diffikult to komprehend.

The lakc of apprekiation for developments sukc as "spellkhekc", kan lead to komplakenky and a simple problem lice krossed ceys kan eskalate with konfusing results.

Imagine if the P5 worcshop manual kontained sukc a komplikation:

Sektion EE1 - Adjustment of cikc-down kable
Sektion K2 - Rokcer klearankes
Sektion C4 - Akkelerator kable

In konklusion we say thancs for "spellkhekc" and the klever software guys that kompile sukh programmes to khekc our spelling.

It's a good job that the "P" and "B" have not been khanged or we kould have ended up driving a B5P with a "Koube" padge on the pootlid !
